North
Park sessions are open to all. Tuesday
20:30 - 21:30
The
centre is Bootle Leisure Centre, Washington Parade, Bootle.
It is located near to The Strand Shopping Centre and so
is easy to reach using public transport. Prices for the
centre are currently £2.50 (but check with the centre
first) per hour session and the training includes many varied
aspects of Taijiquan training.
Here we practice the Yang Lu-Ch'an form as well as some
sword work. A very relaxed and easy going session is to
be had here with not too much emphasis on getting it all
right... just bits of it. This way there is little pressure
for each student to feel they need to do sodding great long
forms inch perfect all the time. Heck knows I don't do that
myself so why should anybody else?
As the sessions go we may train some specific techniques
and methods and use other forms to try to illustrate the
scope of what Taiji is all about. Mostly though we just
have a funny old time.
Cheshire
Lines sessions are open to
all. Friday 18:00 - 20:30
All
that is who wish to learn the martial side of Taijiquan.
I make no bones about the fact that this session is about
the application side of things but does include slower forms
within the framework of the class.
This
session includes work on push-hands, sword, application,
san-sau (small and large), Lu-ch'an, and just about anything
else I can think of at the time. The time is not spent evenly
and some weeks certain elements are left out to concentrate
on others.
Put
it this way, 21/2 hours is not nearly
enough. At just £4.00 for the session this is a bargain.
Again
the feel of the session is one of fun and frivolity. Make
no mistake that there is a good deal of stuff packed into
this session and every student is expected to work at their
form.
Questions
from students guide the whole thing so everyone gets a bit
of what they want most. Membership of BCCMA is expected
at this session as bruises are a strong possibility. Membership
can quickly be sorted for regular attendees.
