Well as far as
Taiji itself is concerned, probably very little.
I teach Taiji
according to the way the World Taiji Boxing Association teaches.
This is very
matter of fact and very down to earth training.
WTBA now has
many thousands of students all over the world so their methods are
sound and popular.
So what is it
about my training that makes it different?
Taiji
for me is a 'True Martial Art'.
This does not just mean I can 'whoop ass' in a flashy manner, tho'
that does have it's appeal!
Actually, if
you point me at a good fight and I'll point myself the other way
and run like hell!
What I mean by
'True Martial Art' is that I am able through
Taiji to defend myself from all forms of bodily attack. And that
starts with the stuff I can't see.
The bacterial and viral
attack we suffer every single moment of our lives.
How
can Taiji help here then you ask?
What
Taiji does is to 'wake-up' your body from its everyday routine.
It does this by stimulating the brain to 'attend' to itself and
your body.
By adopting the
movements, which when you first meet them are probably a little
odd in appearance, specific nerves are stimulated, or barometric
changes may occur which are novel to the body's regular inputs.
These are very slight and subtle but the brain recognises them as
different and so will 'follow-up' this input.
Persons who suffer
from chronic pain symptoms are very likely to have a very high pain
threshold for the simple reason that your brain, like yourself in
real life, tunes out a lot of the 'repetitive' background noise.
Nerve impulses are that noise that the brain listens to.
If the noise
changes then the brain pays attention for a while, possibly acting
upon the noise.
By practicing
Taiji we change the kind of signal the brain recieves.
So
why train specifically with Wujiqigong Taijiquan?
Simply because
I will tell you what you are doing without all the mumbo jumbo that
is associated with this style of training.
My style of teaching
is down to earth.
You can understand me.
If you know what you are doing,
and more importantly why,
you will be more likely to continue training.
Taiji
is easy!
Trust me.
When you first atart Taijiquan Training then you will find lots
of new ways of moving.
It is confusing.
It is bewildering.
But I like that!
Confusion means you are about to learn something, yes?
All you have
to do to start is to not try too hard.
Simple as that.
But
if I dont try how can I get any good from it?
Because your
body responds to tiny little electrical impulses.
If you make big electrical impulses with big tough movements...
your body tunes down the signal as if it is just everyday noise.
I
want you to learn how to get your brain to listen to what your body
is telling it.
So to start with
we have to make the body whisper...
That way the brain will try harder to hear you.
So now you have
started Training and you have discovered that
the softer you move, the easier the
move is.
More so; the better the movement looks!!
See? I even make it sound easy!!
